What is Big Bang! and what does it have to do with Slow Money?  Big Bang is a one day gathering that convenes social innovators for the purpose of Impact!  Read more about Big Bang at their web site.  The Dallas Social Venture Partners, sponsors of Big Bang, recognize the need for collaborative efforts to deal with social challenges our community faces.  DSVP is collaborating with us!  We are collaborating with them.

The one day event features four tracks dealing with important issue areas.  These tracks are:

The Nourish track is about food.  Healthy, fresh, local, fair, innovative, transformative food.  Is is philosophically "right there" with Slow Money.  Consequently, Big Bang chose Slow Money to serve in the role of an "Endorser" for the Nourish track.  That means Slow Money has had a role in the selection of the five entities that will have a chance to "Fast Pitch" their ideas at the event.  I am a DSVP Partner and will also serve as a coach for one of the five entities.

Here is the announcement of the five organizations that will present their ideas.  I will not steal any thunder, but when these organizations take the stage they will be making a big case for innovation in local, fresh, healthy food production, consumption, education, and distribution.

Slow Money will be at Big Bang in the Socially Conscious Marketplace, where we will get to tell our story to hundreds of Dallas leaders, innovators, and funders.  This is a further step in rolling out Slow Money to the Community.

Big Bang is getting bigger and is spreading its wings.  My hope is that next year Slow Money will have enough concrete plans in place to take the stage at Big Bang and present our vision, under spotlights, to the community.  In the meantime, the beauty is that Slow Money is not alone in seeing and believing that we must constructively move capital in ways that contribute to solutions.  Our focus is on food and agriculture.  Big Bang and DSVP are about these and many other priorities.  But together we are building the philosophy and the capacity for conscious and intentional investment in organizations and individuals that are problem solvers.  I think it is safe to say that together we are building the fertility of the soil of our local capital market.  Is it fast?  Of course not.
